Kathy Geisler, oboist, playing "Virtual Vivaldi" - The Four Seasons and Highlights from Gloria In the past, Vivaldi's Four Seasons has been transcribed for instruments ranging from the musette to the hurdy-gurdy. In the wilds of the present, unique sparkling timbres embellish a rich string orchestra sound, bringing to life the sonnets Vivaldi wrote to accompany this work - the countra dance on a wooden barn floor in Autumn, the buzzing of bees whimsically humming along in Summer, the birds singing in Spring, the jingling bells and the chattering of teeth in Winter: all are invoked in Virtual Vivaldi. Also included are highlights from another Vivaldi favorite, the subline Gloria. Performed by Kathy Geisler with computers. |
